Fitting in the new industrial age
We live in turbulent times. Business is changing rapidly through technology as we enter the realm of Industry 4.0
If you’ve been following the market news last week then you probably heard about the major shift caused by Apple’s stock split. ExxonMobil, a company that has been dominating the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) index for more than 90 years will no longer be part of it from 31 August 2020. ExxonMobil is leaving DJIA along with Pfizer and Raytheon Technologies.
Salesforce, Amgen and Honeywell will be taking their places. This momentous event is no surprise but a logical transition to a new industrial age. The ongoing pandemic triggered the necessary reaction for the shift but did not create the core of this transition. Moreover, this is not solely COVID-driven event either. Looking back at the last decade we see Energy’s share in DJIA shrinking dramatically more than twice while Technology is growing rapidly to represent a third of all listed companies today.
Just looking at the numbers we see Salesforce demonstrating amazing growth of 220% over the last five years. The reason for this incredible figure is the company’s focus on customers. Starting off as the first cloud-based CRM solution in the world, today Salesforce is a cloud platform that offers it all. It is a versatile tool that could transform any business.
Moreover, transformation is an inevitable scenario in the business realm of today. In order to fit in properly and survive businesses need to adopt a change mindset that would allow them to transition and develop accordingly. This new business world or the realm of Industry 4.0 is swift, seamless and connected. Optimisation, automation and integration are the pillar strategies that we need to prioritize in order to secure an agile transition.
Furthermore, ease-of-use and user engagement on the frontend is as important as the flawlessly smooth operations on the backend. In other words, the tools we pick must feel intuitive and easy to adopt.
